Prison Break

Today's workout is titled Prison Break. I'm not sure why, maybe I'm missing something because I don't watch the TV show, but as far as I know (and I happen to know a thing or two about a thing or two) doing this workout is not the best way to break out if prison.

Today's WOD:
100 bench press 85lbs
100 pullups (200 jumping)

It'll be a good one... And maybe I can do a 1000m row for time to get in on this "1000m under 3:30" challange!

_______________

This WOD was tough! I split it up into 10 rounds of 10 bench press and 20 jumping pullups. The weight got heavier through out the workout and the pullups were my break! Who knew?!? The opportunity for rowing did not present itself at the end of class so I headded home and ate sushi. Yum. Ninja Sushi on Fraser @ 195 is the best sushi joint ever. They make rolls without rice...I had a dynamite roll and a skiny ninja roll :)

So on a stomach full of sushi, I hit the rower for 1000m. I wanted to do it in 3:30 knowing it would be a stretch since the lowest 1000m time I could find recorded in my blog was 3:51. Yikes. I gave it all I had for the first 400m then got tired. I paced myself for the next 200m or so then had to stop to catch my breath. I was at a point that no matter how hard I tried, I could not get a full, satisfying breath. Frustrating. After I got my deep breath (while stopped) I felt better and gave `er hell for the last 250. The rowing made my legs hurt because I recently learned to row with my legs.

I rowed at a 1:40 pace for the last 100m which is fast for that distance! I finished the 1000m in 3:40.9. That`s not bad. It`s half way between where I was and where I want to be. By the end I thought I was going to meet Mr. Pukie and that made me think: `I just spent $10 on sushi, I can`t barf it all up, what a waste of money!` I`m cheap, what can I say?

Later in the evening, the arm workout hit me. I`m sure it was magnified by the row not to mention the shock to my shoulders from the pushups late last week after taking two weeks off from any sort of resistance work. I`m happy with my workout today and can`t wait to see what`s in store for tomorrow. The adventure continues :)
